CARDO Sierra Leone Brings Solar Street Lighting to Kamoriya Village Through Youth in Agriculture for Education Project

The Community Advocacy for Relief and Development Organization (CARDO Sierra Leone) has achieved another important milestone in its rural community development efforts with the installation of solar-powered street lights in Kamoriya Village, located in Safroko Limba Chiefdom, Bombali District.

The initiative forms part of CARDO’s ongoing Youth in Agriculture for Education Project, which connects agricultural development, educational support, and community improvement to promote sustainable livelihoods in underserved rural communities.

The newly installed solar street lights provide much-needed nighttime illumination, contributing to improved visibility and creating a more welcoming environment for residents.

Why Solar Street Lighting Matters

Access to reliable electricity remains a significant challenge for many rural communities across Sierra Leone. In villages where public lighting is limited or unavailable, darkness can restrict movement and community activities after sunset.
